Now, that depends...
Firstly, ask yourself the following questions:
1. Am I overweight/underweight?
2. Have I ever done a dedicated cardio session?
3. Do I have what it takes?
Ideally, you answered no, yes and of course respectively. However, if that isn't the case, we're here for you.
Getting in shape isn't a temporary excursion, it's a lifestyle that needs to be maintained, day in, day out. However, If you just want to pop some abs at the beach this summer, I'll indulge you.
We have many programs on this site for vastly different body types and schedules. We're even working on a workout generator to keep your sessions interesting and fresh.
However, you're on this article for a reason and I'm going to show you how to get in shape in 30 days.
Create a schedule
If you fail to plan then you plan to fail. You must have a workout regimen that you can stick to in order to get in shape. It's no use making it up as you go along as you'll fail to train the correct areas.
Make it 'easier'
If you want to commit to anything for 30 days, you have to make it relatively easy. There are a few ways you can do this:
Set everything up the day before
This includes having your workout clothes folded and placed in a suitable position (where you workout in your house or your gym bag) so you don't have to scramble around in the morning.
Reward yourself
Set short-term goals (weekly) that you can focus on. When you hit them, reward yourself with a little something. This could be a chocolate bar or a pizza. This leads me on to the next point:
Don't overdo it
If you've never worked out before it's probably not a good idea to jump in the deep end as this can yield negative results. Begin with light exercise and slowly move onto more intense and physically taxing movements once your body has adjusted.
Sleep
Probably the most underrated aspect of getting fit is sleep. Think about it, you put all of this work in and stay up all night watching a new Netflix show. Your body hasn't had time to recover and fix the damage (micro-tears) in your muscles.
Nutrition
Certainly 80% of the battle to getting fit is the kitchen. You will hear this everywhere you go and for good reason. Think of your body as a car. If you put the wrong fuel into it, it won't run properly or even at all. Make sure that you feed your body what it needs in order to yield the best results.
Overview
This is a super-short answer to the original question, yes. You can get in shape in 30 days. No, it won't be easy but you can certainly make it easier. Is it going to be worth the effort? That depends on your reason for starting. If you're going to go ahead with this, there are a few more articles I would suggest reading to get you started:
