Have you ever wondered if you really need a gym membership? Me too. Can you not afford the cost of a membership or even the time it takes to get there and back? With a million items on your to-do list, it can seem near impossible to fit exercise into your routine. However, I have developed multiple ways to exercise without the need for a gym. After all, humans didn't always have gyms.
Here are 5 different ways you can exercise without equipment.
1. Cardio
Running is probably the most effective and accessible form of cardio. All you need are your legs and your everyday trainers. There are thousands of different workouts for running that you've probably never heard of. This will keep your workouts interesting for many future sessions.
2. HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
Don't fancy leaving the house? Self-isolating? Not to worry, HIIT allows you to get a sweat on in the comfort of your own home. There are endless amounts of exercises and combinations that you can try, we even have some right here!
3. Strength Training
Just because you don't have access to a gym, doesn't mean you can't get strength gains. Doing basic movements like squats, push-ups and pull-ups are great compound exercises that target all the main muscles in the body.
4. Improvise
Get creative with your approach to exercise. A great example is climbing the stairs in place of a stair-stepper machine. Anything that involves either controlled movement over time or explosive movement in bursts counts as exercise.
5. Plyometrics
Similar to HIIT, plyometrics focuses on explosive strength exercises over a short period of time. This is an advanced exercise routine as it includes:
- Clap push-ups
- Jump squats
- Burpees with push-up
- Muscle-ups
The Takeaway
Exercise can be done in a variety of different ways. Be it cardio or strength training, you can exercise wherever you are, whenever you want, for whatever reason. What methods have you come up with during the recent climate? Let me know in the comments!
